“An architect should be able to design everything, from a spoon to a city”
Adolf Loos
Around this idea a project has been developed with the intention of studying design at different scales, involving a spoon, a table and a space, all connected by the same design concept: light.
Light properties and its behavior were studied. The space works as a platform to see the light and specially the shadows it casts, how it is reflected and how it changes the space every minute of the day.
“Architects in planning rooms today have forgotten their faith in natural
light. Depending on the touch of a finger to a switch, they are satisfied with
static light and forget the endlessly changing qualities of natural light,
in which a room is a different room every second of the day.”
Louis I. Kahn
“At the threshold, the crossing of silence and light, lies the sanctuary of
art, the only language of man. It is the treasury of the shadows.
Whatever is made of light casts a shadow. Our work is of shadow; it
belongs to light.”
Louis I. Kahn, 1971
